Web and Communications Officer

Stuart joined the Wits Centre for Journalism in 2022 as Web and Communications Officer, and later took up the role of Marketing and Communications lead for the Centre’s annual African Investigative Journalism Conference. He started his career as an investigative journalist and news editor at Caxton, where he was awarded runner-up in the hard news category at the 2010 Sanlam/MDDA Local Media Awards. 

Stuart has over 17 years’ experience in crafting engaging stories on a wide range of platforms, and has worked with clients like Nandos, South African Tourism, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the World Wide Fund for Nature, TEACH South Africa and others as a content and communications specialist.

Stuart published, co-edited and contributed to the 2019 edition of Aerial, a collection of short stories and poetry then released annually by the Institute for the Study of English in Africa’s creative writing course at Rhodes University.
