Radio Days Africa is the largest radio conference in Africa. Held on an annual basis, Radio Days Africa is presented by the Wits Radio Academy under the auspices of the Department of Journalism at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Radio Days Africa aims to stimulate learning, engagement, conversation and thinking around the various aspects of the radio business, in an African context. As a partner event to Radio Days Europe, Radio Days Africa also gains insight into international trends.
With a variety of topics, speakers and participants, all spheres in the public, commercial and community radio sectors are catered for. Sharing the best radio of today and discussing the future of the medium, delegates can grapple with issues facing the medium in a changing environment and be exposed to new ideas and skills from the continent and abroad. Held at the University of the Witwatersrand, the conference attracts more than 250 delegates from public, community and commercial radio from across Africa. A range of international and local media experts will share their knowledge, insight and passion for radio. The conference will host a range of local and international speakers who will speak about the tenacity of the medium in a booming technological era and give insight into best practices and future trends. Radio Days Africa will cater for on-air talent, producers, enthusiasts, managers, marketers and anyone else interested in the medium.
Radio Days Africa 2020 – The New Normal?
Radio Days Africa (RDA) celebrated a decade of learning, sharing and engagement in 2019 with more than 100 speakers, 60 sessions and 500 participants. RDA has become a key event for radio practitioners across Africa and in the wake of “The New Normal” the Wits Radio Academy will continue the RDA conversation in 2020, presenting a variety of on-line sessions and interactive discussions.
Starting on 6 July 2020, Radio Days Africa will host 20 engaging sessions over 20 days. From interactive chats, panel discussions, master classes and individual presentations, #RDA2020 aims to promote sector wide learning and keep the radio industry talking (to and about each other).
The RDA 2020 sessions will be hosted every weekday starting on Monday the 6th of July and will run to Friday the 31st of July, sessions will all start at 14:00 (GMT +2).
RDA2020 will offer informative sessions to a variety of sectors within the radio industry. Public, commercial, community, digital spaces, advertising, marketing, news, content, on-demand and technical, are all areas that will enjoy focus throughout the course of the month long, Radio Days Africa offering. Speakers are being identified from across the globe with a uniquely African influence that Radio Days Africa has become known for.
