As we commemorate 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children, we highlight the high rate of school related gender-based violence in the schooling system. South Africa sadly, has become home to alarming levels of violence against women and children, making gender based violence a national emergency and launching a national emergency action plan aimed at curtailing the violence.
Our first guest, Mrs Dululu Hlatshaneni spoke to us on the interventions the Department of Basic Education has in response to GBV in schools and our second guest, Advocate Amanda Vilakazi, a member of Legal Aid South Africa, joined the conversation lighting the life-changing affects young
people face when engaging in criminal activities or commit gender-based crimes.
