Wits Journalism Honours Coordinator Dinesh Balliah joins former Press Ombud JoeThloloe on the editorial ethics oversight board of the new DStv 24hr news channel #NewzroomAfrika.

In late August, Multichoice announced Newzroom Afrika as the winning bidder that will replace 24-hour news channel Afro Worldview. The channel was previously known as the controversial Africa News Network (ANN7), who’s contract with the pay TV operator had been terminated in August.
Balliah, a new media and online journalism specialist, is the coordinator of the career-entry honours in journalism program at Wits Journalism. She is also the coordinator of the Wits Vuvuzela Online.
Newzroom Afrika still finalising a launch plan for the new channel and are looking to launch early 2019.
