The Department of Justice just passed into law the Maintenance Amendment Act that seeks inter alia to blacklist defaulters of maintenance support. It also seeks to speed up the process of locating the suspect in the event of a complaint. Law Focus this week seeks to understand and probe into the effectiveness of the new amendment with the assistance of Ms. Peta Josephine from the Department of Justice. Later on, Ms. Joy van der Heyde, a family law attorney at Schuld Inc provides a critique of this amendment.
