This training program is funded by the US. Embassy in Pretoria. There is no cost or fee for participants; all expenses, including travel to/from Johannesburg, will be covered by the U.S. Embassy. Anne-Christine d’Adesky –Journalist, Author, Editor, Researcher
Anne-Christine currently writes about HIV for KQED Public Radio’s “Future of You” digital health science blog (an NPR affiliate). She is an investigative journalist, experienced editor in all aspects of magazine production, author of four books, and researcher. She was the former Editor at Large of Out Magazine; Founding Editor of HIV Plus (now PLUS) magazine. She was nominated for the Pulitzer award while working at the San Francisco Examiner. She specializes in long-form feature print and report writing, as well as social media and documentary production. She works as a consultant, media strategist, and media educator on global issues, human rights, health and science, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS, and LGBTQ. She co-founded a major HIV clinical program in Rwanda and post-quake gender violence projects in Haiti. Anne-Christine graduated from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.

Thrishni Subramoney –Media Trainer, Senior Writer, Content Producer
Thrishni is an award-winning South African journalist and content producer with extensive experience in training. From 2015 to 2016, she headed up Flow Communications’ training division, customizing media and social media training for a range of clients. She has led training for South African and international organizations such as UN Women, the South African Road Accident Fund, and the South African Department of Trade and Industry. She also developed and ran a new course in multimedia journalism for Voice of America, and specialized media training for the U.S. PEPFAR “DREAMS” program. She is now Flow’s main content creator for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s team in Africa, but is still involved in training on a regular basis. In her current role, Thrishni creates content (social media, digital, print) that covers development issues including health. Thrishni was a broadcast journalist for more than 10 years at SABC and East Coast Radio. As field editor at East Coast Radio Newswatch, she mentored young radio journalists, assigned stories, edited radio copy, and planned coverage of major events. She has covered international and national news for radio, SABC TV, SABCnews.com, and the Highway Africa News Agency. |
