The winner of the Best South African Documentary at this year’s Jozi Film Festival is Doc-u-mentally, a look at the working conditions of local doctors.

The show looks at our medical professionals, starting off with a discussion on the effect of 30 hour work shifts. Elsie-Mari van Straten from the Safe Working Hours Campaign joins us.

Then we look at some amazing medical innovations coming from South Africa, starting out with a groundbreaking foetal surgery procedure pioneered by Dr Ismail Bhorat.

Our weekly tech bite looks at bacteria-killing lightbulbs and artificial retinas.

Then we explore an emerging rapid TB screening tool with Professor Gerhard Walzl, the head of the Stellenbosch University’s Immunology Research Group.
