A group of pupils at Pretoria Girls High protested against the school’s racially discriminatory Code of Conduct which prohibits the girls from wearing their natural Afros to school. An old conversation made its way onto the national agenda yet again. We discuss the legalities of codes of conduct at schools with Solminic Joseph from the Equal Education Law Centre and get stories from Witsies about their schooling experience.

We also look back on the woman who made the Public Protector such a symbol of justice and fairness, Adv. Thuli Mandonsela. Last year Law Focus spoke to her about her contribution in drafting and maintaining the constitution.

This edition of Law Focus is produced by Xoli Matomela and presented by Nyiko Shikwambane with the help of Keabetswe Magano.
