In 2014, The City of Joburg launched a programme aimed at empowering the city’s residents (particularly the unemployed and disenfranchised) with employment and business opportunities within the city council’s service delivery activities.
Through Jozi@Work, the city council has contracted the services of existing and newly-formed community level co-operatives and enterprises across nine different sectors including water, waste, energy, green services, maintenance, construction, agriculture, business and support, roads and transport, and digital services and marketing.

This week on The Business Buzz, We scrutinize the efficiency of the Jozi@Work programme in addressing the unemployment crisis and in creating opportunities for small and micro-businesses. We are joined in the discussion by, Jak Kosseff, the Special Advisor for priority projects at the office of the Executive Mayor.

We later unpack all the wonderful opportunities that Red Bull has for creatives and social entrepreneurs through the Red Bull Amaphiko Project in our “60 Second Corporate Sell”.

In our Business Wrap, Financial Advisor Ken Swettenham gives us a recap of this week’s business, finance and economic news.
