Fires have set the Cape Peninsula ablaze, so we have a look at the tech and science behind it. We speak to Philip Frost, senior scientist at the CSIR, about detecting fire from space, we learn more about why fire is vital to South African ecosystems from Prof. Karen Esler and Prof. Brian W. van Wilgen of Stellenbosch University.
Lastly Patrick Ryan from Volunteer Wildfire Services tells us about their brave efforts and how firefighting is done.
